Very cozy place , stunning cottage, comfy beds, great big living room, kitchen fully equipped with everything that you would need, and overall very clean

Comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting. The cottage is generally roomy (the only exception being the dining table in the kitchen, which is a bit of a squeeze), beautifully airy, but also warm and the bedrooms are attractively dressed. Staff at the adjacent hotel were charming and helpful and we enjoyed a good dinner in the restaurant there (note: it isn't licensed to serve alcohol). Nearby Alston is a very attractive village and there are a number of interesting historical sights and geographical features to explore in the area. Ideal for anyone looking for a very pleasant, tranquil base from which to explore the North Pennines, Cumbria and Northumberland/County Durham.

This is a review for poppythorne cottage. Stayed with my partner, 2 friends and 2 kids. Wonderful location and very lovely space with hottub and kids room. Would recommend!

To turn on heating: turn the thermostat up that's on the wall just by the front door.
if the heating is not working in clifton all they have to do is to turn on the pressure valve for 5-10 seconds or until the pressure reach to 1.2-1.5 then they have to turn of back the valve.. They can find the valve under the boiler which located in the toilet next to the main entrance.
Heating system
Poppythorn and cobblestone are on electric heating system, Poppythorn are on underfloor heating and cobblestone are on air flow. The boiler is in Poppythorn in front of the main entrance.. if there is no heating then they should check the boiler if it's working or not, if it's working then they need to check the timer if it's correct or not, if they couldn't fix it then they need to contact a specialist.
Colleton and the hotel (rooms from 1 to 11) are on LPG the boiler is next to the kitchen and the tanks are at the main gate before you enter the hotel (where was the caravan) ..if they have an issue with the heating then they should check if the boiler is working or not, if not they need to check the pressure, the timer, if its still not working then they need to contact specialist (I don't think the problem would be from the LPG tanks as the providers are in control of that and they are aware if we are going to run out so they contact the office to inform them about that and to get approval to come and fill the tanks.
Hotel the annex (rooms 12,14 & 15) and the AAGA in Colleton are on oil and the tank is behind the hotel in front of shieling..the office can check the oil level and they need to order oil before we reach 30% of the tank level. (About the annex I am not 100% sure if its on oil or not, this is what grame informed me) and the boiler for the annex is next to the fire escape door next to room 14 (outside of the building) if we have problem in the heating there then they should check the pressure which is we always lose the pressure in this boiler and this could be checked on the hallway before in front of the laundry room, if the pressure is fine then they need to check the oil in the tank.
